Charming vintage porcelain wall sconce featuring a beautifully dimensional blush pink rose with green leaves, accented by pale blue rope, swag and tassel details.
Believed to date to approximately the 1940s–early 1950s, this romantic plug-in wall lamp has wonderful period character and would be beautiful in a cottage-style bedroom, powder room, dressing area or vintage-inspired interior.
The porcelain backplate has an unusual sculptural design with raised floral and tassel decoration rather than simply painted details. An impressed “402” appears on the reverse and is believed to be a mold or model number. No maker mark is evident.
The original-style painted metal arm extends outward from the porcelain backplate and holds a vintage socket with an on/off switch. A long two-prong plug-in cord allows the sconce to be used without hardwiring.
Approximate measurements:
• Backplate: 6.25” across
• Height: 9” without bulb
• Projection from wall: 7.25”
Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The porcelain displays beautifully, while the metal arm and socket housing show expected finish wear, paint loss and patina consistent with age. Please review photographs closely as they are an important part of the description. Note that the first photo is digitally generated.
Shade and bulb are not included.
Because this is a vintage electrical fixture with older electrical components, I recommend having the wiring inspected by a qualified professional before regular use.
